Finally started my Jeep Garage

I finally got started on my dettached 24 X 36 garage.
It will have 10 foot walls and engineered loft trusses for a storage area/rec room. I think that I'll run the stairs outside.

The footers are poured, the block foundation is up.

This week; get ready pour the slab.

30 x 50 stick. I can't wait until it is operational!

I have one too.....couple of mods.....

5.7L SBC with 4L60E ******
SOA
4.10 Gears
CV Driveshaft
ARB Rear with solid axles
Detroit in the front (building up a D44 Flat top right now)
Full roll cage
And trying to wear out the 11.5x32's so I can slap on 35's

I should have my dash back in it this weekend.

And as soon as I get my permits....I'll be tearing down my old 2 car detached garage and building a new one.....but just a little bigger and taller....

I've got a 88YJ lifted with 35's and 4:56 gears/lockers...blah blah (it's being sold), then a 98 TJ lifted with 33's under it, have a set of Rubicon axles waiting to go in...then the 35's will go on it...a 96 ZJ (basically my daily driver but will lift it a couple of inches and put 31's on it) and then a stock 95 YJ ( I consider that my spare...not sure what I'm going to do with it yet)

Well, I love the reponse.
My TJ is the stock 4.0 with cold air intake, heavy duty flowmaster off-road muffler. It's lifted 3" and has JKS swaybar disconnects. Keep in mind it's a daily driver.

Extras: CB (fabbed my own brackets), LED brake/turn lights, ARB bumpers and side rails, hard and soft tops

I've got 33's right now. I want to go to 35's but I'll need new gears,axles and lockers when I do that. Maybe Ill go with a 4" lift.

John, I love that red CJ. I had a red YJ and I think that it's true that red cars get more tickets. I had several and with my dark blue TJ - none.

i heard jeeps... so here i am... have a half jeep/half buggy thing with a 400+hp 401 in it... so far it's been real fun to drive out at the Hammers..

will be keeping an eye on this build.. dig jeep themed garages..

so that picture with your daughters.. i take it that is Uwharrie? Was stationed out in Jacksonville and wheeled all over out there..

BTW....we are going to building a new autoclave out in NC...not far from Cherry Point....I wouldn't mind spending some time there.....would love to take my jeep out there for some wheeling...

You need so many things... My suggestions

1. Unless you are "of means" you'll need a good hi-lift range floor jack.
2. Good quality Torx drivers. You need them for so many items on your Jeep.
3. A case or the gallon can of PB Blaster.
4. 12 ton high lift range jack stands.
5. Good air compressor and a good 1/2" impact.
6 36mm socket for the front hubs.
7. 13mm 12 point socket for the hub retaining bolts.
8. More PB Blaster.
9. Fridge with lots of adult beverages.
10. A club of good wheeling buddies to perform the eventual "Wrenchfest."

#11 and the best money you can spend. Chrysler's FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your year and model. The Haynes and Chilton's WILL NOT CUT IT!!

Here's a pic of my 97 TJ, beside my wifes old CJ7 (has been sold). RE lift, buch of dents and scrapes from wheeling, got a LS1, 4L60E to go in it (sometime) gone is the plastic dash too.

Jeepgod - yes it is Uwharrie. We had a great time we live an hour and a half West of there. That was last Spring and we plan on going again this week.

As a Jeeper myself, I would say (in order):
0) Hand tools -- you'll need metric and SAE, TJ's are Jeep's ******* children of both US and foreign, often you will find both metric and SAE fasteners on the SAME assembly.
1) Power -- Lots of outlets
2) Lights -- Lots of lights
3) A welder and power for it. You'll get a LOT farther per $ spent if you can fab for yourself.
4) Grinders -- Several... Good quality, I prefer the Makita 4.5" models.
5) Compressor (and power for it) -- you can get 60 gallon models pretty reasonably, make sure to get an oil lubed one... Go bigger if you can afford it.
6) Small bandsaw -- again, you can get them affordably and this is a good option for when grinders just won't cut the mustard.
7) Big *** shop fan -- either portable or built in like a chicken-house.
8) Storage -- I use a lot of the rolling racks from Sams, they're cheap, they can be moved easily, and they give you lots of options.

Luxury items:
1) drill press -- make sure to get one with a slow enough spindle speed, many run too fast for metal.
2) Belt/disc grinder -- the second most used tool in my shop (first is welder), but they aren't cheap and you can make do with hand grinders.
3) Plasma cutter -- buy as big as you can afford.

They don't leak, they're just good at marking their territory.

Yeah the Tornado and the T-98 are WAY gone, the only thing that's stock on it is the frame and the tub. It's running a 400HP 383 SBC, with a TH400, a 203/205 Doubler-triple-sticked, CUCV axles, with 4 wheel disc brakes.

The original t-cases on these were NP200's, and they were a SERIOUS POS, top speed 45MPH with straight-cut gears. At highway speeds you could hear the xfer screamin' OVER the engine/road-noise.

jeeps what somebody said jeeps I had to log in just to put a post in this thread! Well I have a 82 CJ7 with a LT1 and a 1970 wagoner Buick 350 th350/205 D44 front 60 in the rear with disc brakes the waggy it a build in progress . I ll have to find my card for my camera so I can post some pic's...

The 82 CJ7 is my street baby and the waggy is my woods better and in the mean time I have a 82 yota to beat the **** out of that has a Chevy 283 th400 to stock t-case with 5;29's locked F&R on 35's .

I just finished up getting my floor poured they put a sealer on it I had to wait a week till I could walk on it I am in the progress of getting things back together .

A Jeep garage? Well, first you need a JEEP. Or in my case, a HEEP. Then you need everything. Not alot of people will work on the modified pile. So we have to do it ourself. Of course, you need a little wall art.....

Having a garage, is the best hing for your JEEP. Helps softtops last longer and keeps everything inside(the crooks out).

John You're so right. A 30 cal is for pu$$ies. I loved Rat Patrol when I was a kid in reruns. It probably spurred my interest in jeeps early on. I will absolutey have this poster in my garage!

To bad you live in NC (I'm in Jersey) I'd gladly come over and help with the trusses, I like it down there I vacationed in Moorehead city like 3-4 years ago Dont know if thats near you. I went past one of the gates for Cherry Point, If I remember correctly there was a good Army Navy store right by there. I also collect surplus, but most hobbies are on the back burner as I have run out of un-employment and just doing side jobs now...your right about 30 cal's lol I just picked up an M-1 Carbine couldn't resist for $500 plus like 10 mags and prob. 300 rounds..

Then being stripped down for new axles and suspension.

And here is the Jeep this past year.

I need to finish wiring the garage and get some heat into it so I can work this winter. But a Jeep garage is never big enough. Mine is 24X30 and I wish it was bigger.

Gastonia is near Charlotte, central North carolina. About an hour and a half from Uwharrie NF and three from Tellico NC/TN border. I do have a neighbor from NJ. He's helping out.
