Agreed. They're taking their sweet *** time. Maybe they are waiting for that rumored patent on the 72 tooth mech to expire then tool up for complete in house production of all drive sizes?

And since it's a Cornwell tool, even if you want it you won't be able to buy it. Unless you're one of the few people who knows a Cornwell dealer.
My guess would be that the slowness is on Cornwell's end. They have to tool up to build a new handle and head. Cornwell makes the handles in house and installs imported kits in them. The (probably Taiwanese) supplier of the guts doesn't have to do anything different, since the gut kits are probably identical.

Yea but things are usually low problem once they come out. I have had very few problems out of the new 72 tooth head.
During development, it held to over 200 ft/bs of torque on the test meter before the drive sheared off. The guts did not break.
The 1/4 has the same design guts only smaller.
I can see them having to tool up for a new head, but why would they need to change the handle?

Can you at least tell us the part number of the Mac ratchet in question? I'd like to take a look at it on the Mac website.
That's a good point. I didn't think that they could probably use the same handle as the 36-tooth 3/8" drive. The website claims the lengths are the same, so perhaps they do use the same handle.

Take both all the way apart also. I want to see the guts of the mac one.
It doesnt suprise me, I think most Knew that the 72 tooth wasn't made in House.

The handle style is like the classic ratchets but the casting or "blank" is different with the 72 tooth ratchets.
Yeah.. I never said they did, I was only claiming that its possible that the Internals are used in other Brands.
Not right now but they both sound the same as well.

Obviously Looks can be deceiving when dealing with Import tools but this one looks similar.

Armstrong makes all of matco's ratchets, I don't know if they make this one though.

Ie: Putting 88 tooth Ratchet kits in Gearwrench 6o tooth ratchets, 88 kits in Armstong max and Now under the umbrella group of Apex you can find 88 tooth Armstrong ratchets, Craftsman premium ratchets with 84 teeth.
That kind of Lingo might work on the Tool truck but Here at GJ, We know Tools...
And Please Dont take offence to my Thread, Its tough to stay on top of who is making what and where its coming from concerning Apex, Fortunately we have some Tool Knowledge here at GJ and there are times i think they just buy tools so they can tear them down to show the community.

Armstrong didn't make MATCO's ratchets. Armstrong and MATCO were both brands owned and produced by Danaher, so they shared a lot of components.
It's a little more complex now. Danaher spun off its tool division, in a joint venture with Cooper. The new joint venture is called Apex Tool Group.
BUT, I don't think MATCO was included in the agreement. If memory serves, MATCO is still technically a Danaher business, even though the tools are still very similar to tools sold under the name Armstrong and a few others.
