My little two car garage had a simple 4 ft, 2 bulb fixture in its center. I bought four 4 ft, 4 bulb fixtures from Lowes on clearance last year for $12.50 each. They have sat in my attic for all this time due to relative laziness and procrastination for installing them. Last week, one of the bulbs went out in my regular fixture. Since replacing it didn't work, I assume the ballast went. The wifey and I went to Home Depot and I looked at the replacement ballasts. At $20-$30 each, I figured I'd install a whole new unit.
The wife said "Why don't you install your clearance ones?" I guess that was all the push I needed. A box of 5000k bulbs, some 14/2 and four ceiling boxes later, I had a project.
The wife even helped me and by the next afternoon, I had four new lights installed on my ceiling. Nice smooth diffuser and oak end caps too. I've only installed 2 bulbs per fixture and the garage is pretty well lit. I haven't decided if I want all 16 bulbs or not. In either case, it's a big upgrade from the sad little fixture I did have. That fixture is still up with its one bulb working. I have a blank cover plate and will install that one of these days.
