I'm new to welding, so tell me what all do these do?

Looks like the round area behind the joint is for nozzles... I can see them also being handy for the tips. What's the "hammer" part for?

Breaking slag I would guess.

You can use the needle-noses to clean spatter from the nozzle, cutters for trimming wire, clamp to remove and change tips, and the larger one for the nozzle...

And yes, can be used as a hammer

That's great news! Need a new pair since the HF garbage ones somehow quickly got dulled just cutting .030 welding wire...

I'm not at home now, but I have owned my Channel lock brand welpers for 10 years. Is it just recently that the production came back to the states?

at work they ordered us a few pairs of westward brand welding pliers. I left them when I saw they were made in China. I just use duck Bill pliers.

channel lock is great and i am glad to see they are making these. I wish they would expand there line even more.

I'm happy to now know what they are called. I always just referred to them as my welding pliers ... which I'm guessing is where the name came from. I have a pair of cheapies and almost bought a set of "Lincoln's" on the weekend. I like Channellock products so I'll look for a pair. Thanks for the heads up.

as of 6 months ago they were not on the web page.

I looked all around for USA welpers before I went to lincoln Electrics welding class. I bought 2 pairs of japan welpers there because they sell cheap to the students.

Wish I had known about those when I bought mine. I passed on the HF pair and paid around $14 for a "better" pair from Hobart. Turns out the Hobarts are MIC and just about identical to the HF ones. They don't cut wire fer nuthin'.

There is a third option too - I've got a set with no brand name, only marked "Italy" that are too small to ream any MIG nozzle in existence!.

I forgot all about checking. I've been at work for the last 7 days working 12 hr shifts. The only time I went into the shop was to grab a beer after work.

I still have 2, 12 hr shifts to get thru

Thanks for reminding me.

Well, I guess I can't garentee that these are the Channell lock brand. After cleaning them up a bit the only identifying marks is "YS-50" embossed into the grips.

Can anyone tell me what the model# is for the CHannel loccl brands? The only thing I know is I paid 34 bucks for them from AirGas.

I'm doubting these are Channel lock brand now.(disappointed)

Thanks, Buck. You look at something every day and you don't really see it. Sorry about introducing the confusion to this thread.

Channellock now making “welpers”

For thoughts of you who want a USA made welper over the Japan ones or the crappy *** HF ones, Channellock is now making the model 360 a USA made version.

http://www.channellock.com/360-Welders-Pliers.aspx

Amazon has them a little cheaper.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=node=328182011&field-keywords=channellock+360

But the best deal and to support a mom and pop is the beloved HJE.

http://store.harryepstein.com/cp/MiscPliers/360.html

The Amazon pliers are sold by HJE through Amazon. Just ordered a set.

I love it. And the best part is, I sent an email to Channellock customer service about a year ago suggesting this product to them (I'm surely not the only one), but regardless, It's nice to see a company who actually listens to their customers suggestions.
