Hello all, my name is William. Im getting ready to retire from the military soon, and my bride and I are building our home. I am “finally” building the garage I want (within budgetary limits). It’s a 24 x 32 Workspace, with 15’ ceilings. Two post 10A lift is already on order and standing by. My questions for the experts are below:

Lighting suggestions? A friend has suggested the: Lithonia Lighting 4-Light High Output White Fluorescent Strip Light Fixture from Home depot? Any feedback from actual users?

I’m absolutely sure I will have follow on questions.

Thanks in advance

William

Hi William Love the zipwall green house. Ohh ho I remember those days! It looks great.

On the lighting you have many choices but t-8 rapid start 4' are good start but make sure your fixture is one with thereflector shied to get as much light as possible down to th ground where you need it. I picked up a bunch of free 8' units with no reflectors and ended up tossing them. 8' bulbs ar tough to handl and no reflectors had a good portion of the light going up in the rafters.

I put some old school track lighting around the work bench to put the light just where it needs to be. more about my aging eyes then anything else.

good luck and keep us posted..

Welcome to Garage Journal. Thank you for your service and congrats on your retirement!!!!! If you don't mind, could you put your State you live in, into your profile? It really helps when answering questions that pop up.

And I can't answer you about the lighting, but the house and garage are going to look great. I'm in for updates!!!!!
