I have been banging around the thought of getting a lift for my garage for years. One of the things that kept me lift less was my 8’ ceiling.
I looked at 4 posts, short 2 posts, scissors, raising the ceiling, building a barn, you name it. I spent endless time on facebook marketplace, Craigslist, local classifieds, online for new units… nothing felt right. By right I mean budget, ease of delivery and setup, and… would the thing even be useful with a ‘40 Ford unchopped pickup that’s nearly 6 feet tall.
I finally saw one on marketplace, an older Norco 68000 3 foot midrise, 1200 bucks, with the power unit and a set of truck adapters about 40 miles from me. It actually fit in my pickup, so I took it home, cleaned it up, added some quick disconnects for the line and installed a new release cable and handle
. Today was the test flight. It gave me over 20” to the running boards and once I relocate my garage door opener, I’ll pick up another 8” or so, which is about all the lift is good for anyway.
