I picked up an old stand up 220 air compressor for the shop today. It's has an Alemite model UMK 8611-1 vertical twin compressor head. It pumps up but it's weak and has a slight knock until it begins to build pressure then it quietens down. i'm sure it has a million hours on it and could do with an overhaul. Does anyone know where I might find parts for this ? Thanks

I've never rebuilt a reciprocating compressor but am wondering just how "standardized" parts really are such as pistons, piston rings, connecting rods, reed valves, disc valves, etc.

If you've got worn out connecting rod bearings, a machine shop/small engine rebuilding shop could most likely rebuild it for you. Or perhaps the crankshaft bearings are worn out.

You have any pics you could post?

Check out Collins Equipment out of Cleveland. If it's the same as the one in the pictures it's a United States Air Compressor pump.
