Finding a 28.5mm shaft balancer cone

I have a Snap-on EEWB305A, and having some trouble finding cones for it. It has a 28.5mm shaft which i'm finding out is not common. Unfortunately, I got the machine used and didn't check the cones it came with (live and learn), they are all different sizes. It does have one cone that fits, which is the one I used to test the machine.

I saw Snap-on sells a 40mm conversion for $400+ which I'm not sure i'm wanting to spend on an old hand-turn balancer. After extensive searching i've not been able to find a place that sells 28.5mm balancer cones (other than Snap-on).

Thanks in advance!

I'm not finding anything in 1 1/8", but the factory manual calls it out as 28.5mm.

I'm not familiar with wheel balancing machines, but have you measured your stub shaft with a micrometer to make sure it is actually 28.5mm? I downloaded your manual and I do see where it says it has a 28.5mm shaft, but I can't find that spec anywhere else. Online cone listings never seem to say what their inner shaft diameter is for secondary spec verification. I ask, because it looks like you can get 28mm bore wheel balancer cones quite easily from various online sources. If your shaft is actually 28.5mm, you could possibly take a set of 28mm cones to a local machinist and have them bored out to 28.5mm. I assume you want the cones to have the tightest slip fit possible on your shaft, so you might even find that a custom bore like 28.45mm or 28.47mm works better and compensates for wear your shaft might already have on it. There likely isn't much of a quality difference between what you would get from Snap-on or the aftermarket, because cones are pretty simple and the Snap-on website shows their own replacement cones as being made in China. Good luck OP.

I measured it with a digital caliper and its 28.55mm. I did clean the shaft up and make sure it was as clean as could be.

Yeah going with the 28mm and having them machined to 28.5mm maybe the way I end up going. Just hoping there was a better option.

I want to put in a quick update for anyone else that might have a similar issue with these balancers.

I took a bit of gamble and ordered some balancer cones for 28mm shafts. I ordered the cones linked below and they fit perfectly.

In case the link goes dead:
Manufacturer: ‎MT-RSR, Inc.
Part Number: ‎MT2409-28

These were also available on ebay from the same seller.
