Finding a vise that wil fit my bench

Long ago I got a Beta MasterCargo bench for a steal. I'm looking to get a vise and the laminate top is pre-drilled with threaded inserts for a Beta 1599 series vise.

The Beta vise will mount up no problem, but I'm not crazy about the lack of features. I don't really want to drill new holes in the top.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Mount a steel plate predrilled and tapped for the vise of your choice. Use the existing mounting holes in the table for the plate.
