Finding Armstrong Tools

Hey guys, first post here. I've been looking for a few Armstrong items that because of their closing down have since been discontinued, I was wondering if anybody knew a way to find their products? I've done multiple Google searches and called every place that advertises them only to be told that they've been discontinued even though their sites all say the product is available. I've also tried eBay & Amazon.

Ya, I just ordered the 15-399 on Amazon, however the ship date isn't until mid-April, and I have a creeping suspicion that before that time I will receive a notification informing me that the product is no longer available, but fingers crossed...we'll see.

Still looking for the other 2 sets.

I think everyone bought up everything they could when it was announced that they are going out of bisness. Cripe used to have tons of stuff but theyes are pretty much cleaned out now

When they are gone, then warranty will be gone as well. This will be no different than trying to warranty: Diamond Horseshoe, Bonney, Billings, New Britian, OTC (chrome tools) and Barcalo tools

hopefully they amazon will have access to channel stock to fulfill your order, but worth keeping an eye on as you seem to be doing...

IIRC press release stated Armstrong production would end on March 31st.

Is there a reason you're only looking at those sets? Is it because they are going out of business and you want something to hang on to? Warranty isn't important to some people, but should you ever break something in one of those sets, you're likely not going to get a free replacement, or find an exact replacement anywhere, period. Ya, like so many websites Tool Discounter has them listed as available, but when i called last week said they are discontinued and no longer available.

From what I've seen in the past, when Apex Tool Group ends a tool brand, they will still honor the warranty per se. But instead of giving you a replacement Armstrong, they'll give another one of their brands, like Gearwrench.

Quite frankly, I wouldn't trust any Internet dealer's availability. Virtually all of them are non-stocking drop-shippers.

If Amazon says they have it for 2-day delivery, or if it's on eBay, then you've got a chance of getting it, otherwise, eh?

With the way things have been going I would suggest shopping on eBay and find a seller that actually has the item available to sell. I bought a 15-199 1/4" drive socket set a few years ago because of the good selection of sockets, Maxx ratchet, drive tools, plastic case, and it was made in the USA. All of these made in USA tools were made with high alloy steel and the ratchet's gear teeth were machined.

When I heard Armstrong had 2 warehouses to get flooded I began to wonder how all of their inventory in those warehouses vanished. Maybe it will end up on the aftermarket soon in places like eBay.

Why do you really want the armstrong set? Why not one from Williams, SK, or Wright?

its one thing to buy tools on the cheap when going out of business

its another thing to be looking for tools in stock to pay retail?

I was going to buy the 1/4 and 3/8 index ratchets. Maybe they will have a gearwrench equivalent available soon. I still don't know what is going to be made at the South Carolina plant . They didn't say the plant was closing but letting go most of the workers. Some will remain to make something. Just what is the question
