Happy New Years all!!
Several months ago I picked up a 2005 Craftsman GT5000 and have been restoring it. It came with a plow attached and a 54" mowing deck in very good condition. The only issue is it is missing the left and right lift arms and the part has been discontinued. I can't find it on eBay or any other part retailers. Does anyone know of a used parts suppler online or near Connecticut?? I found one Gt5000 parts tractor local but don't really want to pay $250 for $70 parts. I know, I'm being cheap!!

I hear you, just a PIA. I have to borrow a trailer. I've been thinking the same. The funny part is it, it seems most other parts are still available. Seems just stickers, knobs and these are discontinued.

Try a garden tractor board. If you can find a Craftsman dedicated site, all the better. If not, the popular boards, like JD's Weekend Freedom Machines or Wheel Horse's Red Square may be able to help you find the parts, or tell you how to make one.

I recall an internet site that was, if I remember correctly, called something like “The Lawn Tractor Graveyard”.

I was thinking about building something similar to a Gravley (sp?) at the time.

Thanks all. I'll try to locate those sites. I did reach out to the person I purchased it from. He's going to look around his garage to see if they are there. Hopefully he finds them!! It would **** to have a 54" deck I couldn't use!! I cut 2 acres and takes forever with my 42" Husqvarna!

I’d keep checking eBay and see what comes up, though it won’t be a quick hunt.

I’m in a similar boat maintaining a early ‘90’s Troy Bilt garden tractor, although most parts I’ve needed are generic, like getting a new hydraulic hose made, redoing some of the wiring, adapting lights, etc.

Also MyTractorForum has a lot of users and may offer some leads.

Good luck.

Depending on complexity they can be fabricated. I have made parts for my simplicity that was either to expensive or didn't want to pay the price.

The other place is to join groups on Facebook. There are a bunch of local CT garden tractor and a bunch of others for garden tractor. Posting on there you may get some hits.

There is a guy in Pepperell Ma that always is dabbling in older Sears GT/ST tractors. I'm a WFM guy which as mentioned is predominately Deere.

If you borrow, don't forget to compensate the owner.

Unless you're owed in some way

I had some, but gave the tractor away this summer. Sat in my backyard for near 10 years for the parts.

Do you have the manual, or a PN/ picture?

Can you make the arms?
Was thinking about this today (pushed the lawn tractor out of the way). The lift arms on the toro deck are just a 5/8" bolt threaded into a heavy piece of angle with a stud on it. Stud goes through mount on deck and gets a clevis pin, bolt provides adjustment to level the deck front/back and left/right.

I only have the diagram from Sears Parts Direct. If assuming the background is to 1 " scale, the part I need is 14" long with the center offset. I was thinking about trying to fabricate one from flat stock. I've joined a FB Craftsman forum and will post there. I'll give the old owner a few days and then start searching.

If you found a parts machine for $250 just buy it. It will pay for itself over and over if you intend to keep the tractor.

I believe the older red craftsman tractors were made by Husqvarna or AYP and the rest by MTD, not sure if this is your part, but try searching
"lawn tractor suspension arm 195185" and see if it looks right. I think your tractor is craftsman/ husqvarna model 917.27610 if so the lift arms are available as a new replacement part # 532195185

Mine is a 917.276341. The replacement part is also no longer available. The part# is AYP 187277 (Rt side) & 187276 (Left side). Replacement parts are Husqvarna 532187277/276.

A lot of good comments above. A friend of mine gave me a Donor tractor a few years ago that I finally had time to start removing parts from, for my 20 year old Sears Garden tractor, almost Identical. It's in such good shape that I could have gotten it running and either sold it or had another tractor. I'm getting to the point of how much is enough. I need another tractor like a hole.
Try My Tractor Forum, if you haven't resolved anything yet. Pretty interesting info there, and there's even comments about your Model tractor.
Good Luck,
LtF

When my dad restored his Wheel Horse he had a local graphics place make the stickers from photos. They look OEM.

Jerry, Thank you!!! That's exactly the parts I needed and just purchased them!! The odd thing is that I search eBay using the AYP and Husqvarna part numbers and came up empty. Yet right in the description on the set you found is the Husqvarna part number. Go figure!!

Thanks, I'll definitely join. I have several lawn / garden tractor projects going. The GT is going to replace my 2016 Poulin Pro (Husqvarna). I'm tired of the CVT transaxle and all of it's issues. I'm restoring a 1990 Craftsman with a 12.5 for family that just bought a house and an LT1000 to sell when I'm done with it.

That's the Forum I was also referring to.

I was wondering how long ago that was that your Dad has rebuilt his as things have changed dramatically!

2016. It was pretty solid to begin with though. Mostly cosmetic issues.
