fusion did the calcs in its sheetmetal functions. I told it the material and thickness.

the hole and slot are already over sized for the bolt. ton of wiggle room here already.

one of my example parts I got done up a bit ago shows that. also of note: that cut file had the material at .100 instead of 0.090 that they had on hand causing the slight offset of the tabs.

Just wanted to make sure you realize the bends in your test bend have near zero inside radius. You will need to feed the right data for aluminum bend to your software (as close to your first image in opening post) as i will move the intersection point of 2 bolt holes considerably. I would also punch the round holes rather than suffer the indignity of such a crude cut. You could easily use a manual punch with right jigging to locate accurately. Of course, and iron worker would do that better/quicker/easier.

No, in a regular apron brake, the apron is solid so it would want to bend both flanges at the same time, but on your part the bend is offset by the material thickness

oh. clamped the tabs

thats what fusion programmed, the laser cut and then the press brake broke. they lined up pretty dang close.

i have no dignity so if they needed to be triangles i'd cut triangles.

You realize that you need to use correct punch in press brake for the material and bend radius? Also overbend die to allow for spring back. If your software (first image?) gave bend radius allowance and you punched it with a sharp tool (as in example shown) there is no way to two holes should line up. You have a significant error somewhere in the process.

Yes.

that test piece was bent by a shop. So its possible they did it wrong.

Just FYI, I work at a full service laser cutting and sheet metal forming shop, if you want me to get you a quote on just making these and shipping them to you I'm happy to take a look.

I think we only have a $30 minimum cut charge so I'm sure we can be competitive, especially if you have a quantity.
