Finish on new concrete?

I'm new to the site, but I've seen lots of good advice here. I'm building a 24 X 24 garage and the slab will be poured next week. Two questions:

1. What type of finish should I ask the contractor to put on the slab so as to minimize prep for an epoxy floor?
2. Typically, how long does the slab need to cure before the epoxy can be put down? I'm in central Florida, high heat and high humidity.

Thanks for the help!

Light broom finish -
Try not to overwork the surface.
28 days for a cure.

Even with a new, fresh cured floor, you still want to profile the surface before you put down your epoxy. Either with chemicals or mechanical methods.

Wolverine Coatings does have a epoxy that can be applied as soon as you can walk on the fresh pour without leaving imprints. You won't need to wait 28 days, you won't need to do any additional profiling, and it helps increase the strength of the concrete. Please mail us for details.
