So i went down to the basement this evening to change the sheets on the basement bedroom and noticed the window in the basement bedroom was frozen over and the bottom track was full of water and ice.

I started to clean it up and thought to poat about how to fix this..... then i realized i should have taken the picture first........ what can i do????

Window is a single pane, basement is poured concrete , 2 years old, 2x4 framed with r13 roll insulation, 1/2 drywall. Everything is sealed up tight, there is a force air vent in the room, but ididnt put a return in the room, im going to do a large cold air return for the whole basement, since its a big open concept finish.

Single pane window is your issue. I would recommend double pane, I have them in my basement w no issues.

It's a condensation issue, double pane windows would probably help but so would reducing the humidity in the basement or better air flow in that room.

Ok, ive been working on the rest of the basement and have had the vents closed. Ill open them up and see how that works, we have also had a huge drop in temp here. I would really like to change to double pane windows, can i do that by unscrewing them from the inside and replacing from the outside??? Ive never replCed basement windows that were set in the conrete foundation

You maybe able to put a quality plastic against the opening of the window casing Seal it real well and that should keep a lot of the warm moist air off the window and keep the condensation way down.

Some base windows have a nailing flange on the outside that is then covered with a trim piece, others are attached through the frame. Both types are usually fastened to framing that has been attached to the concrete foundation. To replace them you would just need to remove the fasteners, cut through any caulk and push them to the outside.

exactly this .. i'd pull the trim and go around the out side of the window frame with a long sawzall blade to cut the fasteners, it's not like you'll be reusing them .. but for now definitely cover that window in some 6 mil vapor barrier or similar

Double pane windows will help, but if the moisture is on the inside, you likely have too much humidity in that room.
