Thanks to all the posts I referred to in getting my garage done. In summary: It's 28 x 40. It has a home made work bench with HUSKY cabinets and Armstrong VCT checkerboard flooring. It also has stereo, TV, radiant heat, and large compressor for projects. Just need to get a small scissor lift next. It has turned into quite a showpeice and a peaceful sanctuary to get car work done.

Looks like my pics are too large so I need another avenue to post them.

If you need to resize photos, I highly recommend this piece of freeware. Works great for downsizing those photos from your SLR digital camera that are so large they fill three of your screens!

Very nice. Did you get the hose reel from Harbor Freight on sale? Looks just like the one I got from them. It's at work for the other side of my bay. I'm going to have to put a new hose on it soon, but the retractor reel its self is just as sturdy as much more expensive models. :)

You place looks very nice. I like the way the boating equipement is stored/displayed. :)

Nice garage. That’s a great looking canoe you have.

RE: The red TV, want your TV to be different. I once scored a washing machine that was as new but had been in the sun for a couple of years so the plastic all looked bad. I hit it with urethane paint and it came up looking better than new, it had that new plastic look. Who is going to be first to flame their TV?:pimpflash

Sorry for late replies. Thanks for compliments and here answers to questions:

The TV is from CARS and we bought it at Target. It's cool. Has big tires on the side and lots of cars racing stickers like Lightning McQueen. Not a nice plasma which would look better, but it has a DVD player built in so I have it piped into the stereo in the cabinet below it.

The canoe was built by my two sons and I last winter. It's a cedar strip and took us about 120hrs to make. We're building another one this winter also.

Thanks for all the compliments. I have to admit, some of the ideas came from this forum.

Sprongl poster. Yes it is. Met them at The Mount Washington hillclimb a few years back and they gave us two and signed it for my kids and I. I used to be into the Audi S-cars a lot and have switched to P-cars now.

The F1 decal is painted on. I sketched it out. Sorry, no easy decal for ya:)

The hose reel is the harbor Freight model. I have had it for five years with no issues

Cool garage, I just got that same TV for my birthday...now I just need to get the garage ready to house it.

Also, F1, Porsche, Audi and Ducati...we have the same interests. I have all of those...aside from an F1 car of course. Great looking garage.

Hmm, have we crossed paths on any of the audi lists? Quattrolist maybe or the S-Car lists? Anyhow, we've followed a similar path. I built my own S2 from parts and loved it, by the time it was sold it had a full RS2 treatment, 6 speed and lotsa boost.
But I started racing a 911 and it just sat! For old times sake my build website is here: http://www.20v.org/s2/

Re: Finished garage interior - pics now

I am in the process of having a garage built and have a couple of questions about attic access steps:

What type of ceiling joist system do you have? Is it a 2x4 truss system? or did you have to beef it up to say 2x6 since you have steps?

how wide are you steps? how high is your ceiling? what is size of the step opening in the ceiling?

do you like the way it is or would you change anything?

I orginally had planned on having a upstairs but do to budget issues ($$$) have cut back and had planned to use a pull down with a 10x25 floor area in the truss system. I do not plan on putting anything heavy up there but really wanted the easy access for storage. I had not thought of usng small steps like yours and like the idea if I can make it work.

Thanks in advance for any and all responses
Greg
