Finished my Delta 14" ras

I'm finally in my big shop! So this is a machine I have always wanted for large cross cuts but never had the room. I figured I'd share as there are still some ras lovers out there. I tore the machine down cleaned everything, new paint, made a custom mobile base with leveling feet, new top, I moved the switch up higher as I'm tall and hate bending over. I also added a vfd to control braking and speed. Adjusted everything and boy it cuts nice. I still plan on building a miter station for my miter saw, but I needed the capacity for some of the projects we do.

Very nice work on your Delta RAS. That looks like a handy set-up. I like the mobile base you made too. Did you buy just the foot base and screw them onto a hex bolt? If so where did you get those?

Thanks, I build mobile bases for all my heavier machines because I can't seem to buy any good ones. yes I buy the feet from McMastercarr. They aren't cheap but worth it. I use a 3/4-10 bolt and weld a nut to the underside. If you look at my other posts I have made quite a few.

Yeah all tools are dangerous I don't get it. I like that people are afraid of them tho. Got this one for $200.00 lol grew up on a ras, there are things they do better than a mitersaw for sure

The lumberyard that my dad went to while he was remodeling our house as I grew up had one of these, an old one that dated back to the 1950s I think. I remember it was old enough not to have a blade brake, so it took 2-3 minutes for it to fully wind down. I was in awe of it as a kid!

My dad had the 8" Dewalt RAS in the basement that we used to cross cut, rip, dado and router. Fun times ripping a full 4x8 sheet with that thing! More than once the circuit breaker tripped, leaving us there in the dark basement with a half-cut sheet of wood.

I grew up on my grandpa's DeWalt MB, although that one was trashed in a flood. This one I picked up was in beautiful shape. Rebuilt the whole thing and use it often.

Thought I'd share, since this will be dedicated 90 cross cut saw, I added a miter slot and a replaceable cut insert. I will be using this saw heavily over the next month so I wanted it to be perfect. I have it adjusted dead on and have finished cut cabinets ends with a perfect 90 result.
