Hey! That looks just like a real Snap On box! (Just kidding). You did a great job on that, you should be proud of your work. That's nice enough to hand down to your kids some day.

Do you have more pics of the process? What did you use to prep the metal, did you have to do any body work? Did you strip the old paint or just buff and prime?

Beautiful work.

Just asking, if I sent you one of my boxes in same condition, how much would you charge to put it in the same condition as yours?

Looks cool, but for it to be "restored" or "updated", you gotta take the dings, dents and creases out of it before paint. B for effort, D for the finished product.

HA. A "d"? Wow dude. He straightened it out some, and the finish looks fine. I've seen far worse. Who are you to judge?

I think it looks great. I don't like the color, but I can see beyond your personal taste, and see the work. You took your time, and I'm excited to get mine back from powercoat.

Hello from central TX. I'm down in Beaumont about twice a month. I love the area. G-town rocks.

I would like to thank everyone who provided a nice comment. The box was a fun project and was not meant to be perfect. I actually like the dents and dings, it tells that the box has history.

Huh... didn't know that only positive comments were allowed - the OP asked what we think, not "tell me what you think, as long as its only positive."

Rattle can over dents does not mean a "restoration"... period. Looks like most of the posters here are easy to please. If you took a '64 Impala and rattle canned over the dents and dings and presented it as "restored", what kind of comments would you expect to receive? Just being honest, not trying to blow hot air up anyone's skirt. Without criticism, we wouldn't know where to improve. Some people can't take criticism, which I don't get. Don't you want to get better at what you do?

Like I said, cool box, but the painted over dent and creases look like ****. Thanks for playing!

Is that the original lock? The only thing I'm missing is the lock cylinder. Can you take a picture of the lock close up, and the back side too? The piece that would swing down and lock into the opening in the box? I know that would be impossible to find, but I could make it, and probably use a new lock cylinder.

I'm not sure of the Webster's definition of toolbox restoration, but it looks 100,000 times better than it did and the green is a nice flair. The logo work is terrific too.

Wow. C'mon - its a toolbox, not a 64 Impala he is trying to sell on Barrett Jackson. Why worry about a few dents and creases? It certainly doesn't look like ****. You ought to see my box - it is in much worse shape and it still does its job just fine.

All that aside, I like it! Now it needs some black drawer liners and some bright chrome tools! Good job!
