Finished the Deck and Camo Tool Results

As a few reminded me doing anything in the virtual world is just words if you do not show pictures. Well after a month of weekends and over 2,000 fastners stage one of the deck is complete. Decking is a product called Cevn, held down using the Camo fastner system and the railings are Cedar 2x' with Deckorators baulsters. Totally can back all the items as very nice to install and straignghtforward. The close up pic is the final look with the Cammo. the tool spaces the planks out about 3/8's a bit of a big space but now that it is complete I am ok with it. With tool in place fastners are run in at an angle and become hidden. Y-tube has an install video in you want more info. All I did after completion of deck boards was hose it off. It Aint cheap stuff but my intension is to never have to do anything to it again. I know that is a tough thing to ask but time will tell.

Oh yeah as you may notice the entire house is a work in progress. We moved in to a 2/3's completed home last August. Anyone doing something like this knows you run out of time and mony way before you finish. On the docket soon, maybe fall, will be some landscaping..

The Ceven product is PVC versus the Trex Timbertec and other types that are a composite. PVC feature is that it is less likely to mildew with no natural material in it like the others. This was a huge investment and I did a lot of research on the variants. It came down to this or TimberTec and in the end a 20' piece of this was about $18 cheaper. Adds up when you X by 130.

Another feature but I did not utilize is the Ceven boards can be purchased with a different accent color on one side of the board. Basically allows you to do patterns as each side is a different color. My structure was straight forward at 19'6 spans so I was trying to avoid cuts. Starting to picture frame and other fancy stuff would have added all sorts of things for me to mess up but if this is something folks are looking to do this product should be looked at..

Sweeet!!! I feel your pain, I built my own log home about 8 years ago and still trying to finish it up. I'm replacing the old pressure treated decking with the composite and have been adding up the cost for a 18x16' deck and man I can only imagine what that is costing you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Nice,

Really nice job on the deck. I love the color of the boards.

I built one about four years ago with that exact color, although my boards were composite. At the time, I could not find a PVC board that looked anything like wood--it was all solid colors.

I wanted PVC due to the mildew resistance. I would up cladding the outside of the deck and doing the rails in PVC. I did find over time (and please report back to us how yours does) that the PVC expands and shrinks MUCH more than composites with changes in temperature. My cladding would open wide gaps in the winter. I didn't have the problem with the rails as they were PVC coated composite and the underlying composite didn't move as much.

But again, I like your style and that's really well done. Hidden fasteners make a deck so much nicer.

Kevin the house is a bit deceiving as the part that is wrapped by the deck is a timber framed "great" room with what turned out to be very high ceiling. 28' at ridge beam. total sq/ft of house is 3,000 future space in walk out basement but not sure we will ever get to it..
