Finishing a 30x20

ive been mostly lurking here for a while... but i figure it was about time to share what ive been working on.

my previous shop was ~900sqft so moving into this will be a little more cramped, but as the plan is to only use it for actual work rather than parking there may be some more room to breath than at the old place.

i started with a 30x20x12 building, nicely built but not actually finished...

plan is to finish the electrical (done now), insulation/drywall, seal up the floors, and then start actually doing work in there!

along the way i need to build a workbench too but that should be pretty quick.



here it was after we brought over electrical from the main drop. with two lonely fluorescent lights

electrical is all done now... with a handful of 120v circuits, and 4 240v for the various heavy duty bits.

the ceilings are 12' so should be plenty to clear a two post off to one side of the shop. ive got a rough estimate of the layout with the 2 post angled toward a wall a little ways that should allow two cars to drive in and park on the floor without needing to lift one for extra parking.

the lights are those LED ones from costco that everyone on here seems to like - and im a big fan of now as well! a big improvement over the bank of flourescents at my other shop

been forgetting to update this, its nearly done now!

just the floor epoxy left

hoping to get it wrapped up by the end of the month
electrical work still takes the cake for my favorite part, the drywall was probably the least fun!

Wow, that's a great transformation. I'm not an electrical expert at all, so I apologize if this is a naive question, but why are the ceiling lights plugged in and not hard wired?

that just happened to be the way they came from costco, and i figured for ease of replacing them later on if new stuff comes out thats nicer id just put plugs into the ceiling.
