Finishing a Garage - First house!

Good Morning All,

Bought my first house almost a month ago. I ended up taking down shelves and nails this guy had all over the garage. Anyway, I spackled and smoothed everything out - but still a few raised/not incredibly smooth places on the wall. I am going to sand some of the walls lightly. What finish paint should I put in the garage? I'm storing a car in it - will be a "working" garage, not just a showroom. Also, the concrete flooring is in good condition - is it worth to put down the epoxy if there is going to be a lot of traffic on it? The concrete doesn't look bad, I am going to power wash it and clean it up a bit. I also see these race deck floors, however, how good is it for the concrete to breath under neath? Does mold grow? I don't want the concrete to stay damp.

I appreciate any and all assistance with this! Looks like a great forum.

My garage has white ceilings, tan semi gloss walls( easier to keep clean) and epoxy floors. Depends what you want to spend. Epoxy floors aren't cheap but come cleanup time, oil spills etc you'll be glad, also cement floors do dust up a lot... the epoxy floors eliminate this. Invest in some 4 ft lights, a white ceiling does wonders for reflecting light as far as fixing drywall don't go too crazy it's a garage, also placing shelves, wall stuff will camouflage a lot of smooth walls. invest in some wall(elect) plugs you'll be glad you did, most importantly dont show the construction cost to the wife( if you have one) LOL

If you do a search on paint, you will get a lot of suggestions....

But my suggestion....

Use Exterior semi or high gloss paint....dust does not stick to it as well and it reflects light better....and you can wash it off....

Semi-gloss bright white for the ceiling....

Then maybe a light gray for the walls....If you have it all exposed...then you could go with 2 colors if you want....slightly darker on the bottom...lighter on top.

Floor? Don't be in a rush....try to get most of garage changes done and then think about the floor.
