Note: I am not a woodworking expert!

I have a couple of wooden doors in the shop/garage. The edges have a little drag to them (on the vertical side) and I want to plane or reduce them and repaint them. What is the best way to do this? Manual or mechanical?

Thanks

Are you talking about the edge across from the hinges?
Does it have many coats of paint on it now?
Sometims just paint remover will take a 1/16 inch off.
Look at the jamb also. Lots of paint on it will do the same.
How about the hinge screws? Are the all tight?
Sometims a door will drag when the screws loosen up with time.

The hinges are tight and I guess it was rubbing on the edge that you see when you open the door to walk thru it. It was painted the last time I saw it. It looks like someone took a grinder and tried to remove the high spots. Now it has a little wavey appearance along that edge. I am wanting to just smooth it out so it is even and repaint it.

Electric planers are actually very easy to use. As long as you pay attention to what you're doing, and don't take too much off at one time, it is hard to mess up. I'm far from a woodworking expert and my doors came out pretty good.
