alright so i have a 24x24 garage with 8 ft walls....walls are studded and insulated with r13. the ceiling is open, with metal roof. How should i go about insulating the ceiling...should i close in the ceiling 8 ft up along the bottom of trusses. and put the insulation in between the trusses or should i insulate up along the metal roof some way? thanks for your help!

Drop your ceiling under the studs and put as much in as you can afford. I just blew in 14 inches.

If you put in a ceiling and insulate above it you will have to vent the "attic."

You will need roof vents and soffit vents.

If you can live with an eight foot ceiling, that is that way to go.

did you put the metal on decking or 1by4's? ya gotta have something on the under side of tin or it will sweat. you can use 1/2" foam between the truses. eather way, i'd hang your celing on the trusses and blow in insulation but, they make cardboard "tunnals" that staple to the rafters/truses where they meet the wall, this will allow you to insulate and not block the soffet vents.
