It's not much, but it's my own.

So I've had the kit sitting and starring at me for a few weeks now, and the gf always reminding me how it'd be nice to get the garage done and over with(so I could move my tools out of the basement obviously :lol_hitti ).

I went with Rustoleum as it was the one that fitted my budget the most. I dunno if I screwed up or something but I had 1/3 of a can left :headscrat Maybe I didn't put it on thick enough I don't know. The garage is 11X20.

So here it is.

I think I'm gonna get sick of those flakes fairly quickly :(

And the lighting:

2 more of those are to be installed right at the entrance of the garage.

anyone have ever done 2 coats of Rustoleum? It's on sale again this week at my local store and I'm seriously considering putting on a second coat for added thickness. Espescially if I didn't do a thick enough first coat.

It looks pretty good other than a few spots are light on the flakes and not evenly broadcast. But what's with the pit in the middle of the floor? Sump pump maybe?

Well done! You've done a good job!

You don't like the flakes? Some of those will not be stuck so first time you clean the floor, some of them will come out. You'll see if you like it then..

according to my builder, the pit will drain water that may leak off cars, or from the garden hose. It's a bit ridiculous though, the water has to be something like a foot deep before it starts to drain. Standing water can start to stink way before it gets that high in the pit.

I'll get a boat sump pump that I'll hook to a 12v source to periodically empty it. That's be my 20$ fix.

Antoine, did you use both kits for your garage? How much was left after you coated the whole thing? What size is your garage again? 12X35?

Looks great!! I have a 4 car garage and have two Rustoleum "kits" - I think I'd better buy two more kits!!

Well, if I recall correctly, one kit is supposed to cover 250 sq.ft. In my case, the garage is approximately 10' x 37'. In my case, one kit would not have been enough. Half of my garage was very rough so at some point I even wondered if two kits would be sufficient. Applying with a roller wasn't effective and I had to use a paintbrush to completely paint the area. Of course, using the brush used a lot more of the product than only the roller would have.

In the end, I must have been left with about 1/3 of the second kit.

I didn't use all the chips though, as I did calculations to use the amount required for the surface I was covering. I didn't want any higher density than what they have provided the chips for... This is why, in my gallery, you can see in one of the pictures that I actually separated the chips in many smaller batches...

I know must wait 7 days before parking a car inside, but what about the shelves and toll boxes? How long do I have to wait for those?

So my project is finnaly taking shape... We painted the ceiling high gloss white for better light reflection, and the walls were painted light grey/blueish.

The overall look of the rear wall

The pull down lights, and pull down compressor attachement

Still have a speaker to mount to the wall, but yeah... some left over automotive gear will rumble in there(powered by some home theatre amp I found at my inlaws')

And the flimsy foldable workbench has yet to be bolted to the wall. I think I may need to reinforce the table top but I'll see how well it holds up.

Looking good!
Why did you leave bottom of wall unpainted - are you gonna cover it with something? Maybe a foam board to protect car doors? If you make good choices, you should b able to make good use of the space. Maybe consider "hanging" shelves, hanging your compressor, etc.?? Just suggesting.

The bottom portion of the walls is concrete. I don't know how I'll tackle that one yet.
The compressor will actually reside in a box behind and outside the garage. It will have it's own space so it doesn't get too loud in the garage. I'll run an air line from the compressor, through the concrete and all the way up to the hanging hose reel. My neighboors may hate me when it kicks on, but at least I'll be able to hear whatever the person next to me needs to say. And it will free up some space.

Do get some white paint made for concrete to do the bottom of the walls.
It will brighten up the place, make it easier to find dropped things, and seal it from moisture.

1 and a half year later...
Yeah yeah... I know... it's taking me a long time to get it all done. But you have to understand I had to partially rebuild a rotten boat, swap motors and finially, store the summer toy over the winter so I haven't really had the chance, or enough workable room to actually accomplish anything on the garage itself :lol_hitti

The only addition over time was the toolbox. I slighty upgraded...

Anyhow, winter is over and the car is out of the garage.
I finnaly had a chance to put up the workbench yesterday and I also added a shelf on top for rather useful/useless chemicals

There is still alot of cluter in there, but what you don't see behind the guy taking the picture is a backyard shed waiting to be installed to take over some of the **** that sits in here

Future plans?
Replace the bulky stereo with a car deck.
Move lawn mower/snow blower outta there!
Lighting... more, more, more lighting(at least one above the workbench)
Get the camping/boating gear off the black shelf.

Single slot garage and cell phone pictures ftl...

And for those wondering about the Rustoleum line of product... I can say I'm not too disappointed for the amount of money I spent on my floor. After 1 and half year of being abused with jacks, jack stands, dropped/thrown tools, hours of welding, plenty of dropped misc. chemicals and who knows what else I'm fogetting, I can say it's holding up pretty damn well.
