Fire Pit suggestions

Two of my kids have the Solo pits but I have a pit exactly like the one in post 57. I found it produced a lot of smoke and was difficult to sit around for that reason. Problem was it was too deep and didn't let any air get to the bottom of the fire. Over time from not cleaning out the ash from previous burns, the floor got higher and higher and the fires got less and less smoky. If I were to build another one like this, I would leave air gaps in the blocks close to the pit floor to let air in from the bottom to give a much better and cleaner burn as well as making it easier to get it started.

I second post #70. Breo smokeless in stainless. they are the absolute bomb

Here's mine, just finished it last weekend.

Old vertical 100 gal 24" diameter compressed air tank. Cut the middle section out and voila! The bottom has 3 legs so it doesn't rock around and the top has a handle welded to it. If it burns out I'll use the top and make another one. Easy.
