I have noticed a lot of you have a living space above your garage has anyone ever install a fire pole? If so how hard was it? And where did you purchase it?

It can't be very useful as you still have to have a way to get up, and presumably not many people would be able to shinny up the pole without some help. That makes it very wasteful of space. I wonder how many real fire stations actually still have these?

Unless you are planning for some other kind of entertainment?

Well....L@@K at the big brain on Will! Yes I would have to agree with you not many people would be able to “shinny” up the pole, however last time I looked most people were sliding down. :dunno:

I've been to three local fire stations and all have them. They're used too.

I had one in my front room when I was single. I thought it was cool at the time figuring Id have all my gals stripping and dancing on the pole. I only ever got 2 of them to do it tho and it was in the way more than it was worth. If you have a ***** girlfriend it will be cool, If you are married its a waste of time :)

Fire Pole/Stripper Pole wuts the diffrence?

the difference is, you dont want your strippers using your fire pole if you are on the second floor, or it will be a quick show and you'll have to get up and go down stairs to see the rest of it.

I beg to differ !!! I am married and it would not be a waste of time, it would be for you because the garage door would be closed and you would be on the other side but certainly not a waste of time for me...then again only been married 28 years, maybe she will change at 30 years of marriage and what you meant to say is that is would be a waste of time after 30 years.

I'll assume this is a serious question on safety. Your insurance guy probably won't like the fire pole idea. If you have a second floor and a window look at the safety ladders that roll up. They are sold at most home improvement places, Menards, Lowes, Home Depot... they hook inside your window and roll out down the outside of your house for a way of egress

this doesnt help in any way but its kinda along the same thread, early firestations used spiral staircases to keep the horse from wandering up them...

No it has nothing to do with safety, I just want one.

Here is what I have come up with...
