Living in a town by the edge of the forest, the town has requireements when addding over 500 sq feet. I am in the process of getting my building permit to add a garage and a bathroom.

Since I am in a "high fire zone," they are requiring me to add a sprinkler system to the new addition and to the rest of the house (1600 sq ft) 3 bed / 2 bath.

Does anyone have any idea of how much it costs to "comply" with the town's demands?

I dont have numbers, but it aint gonna be cheap, especially as a retrofit. Also, I dont know ir a residential system is "wet" or "dry". Mine will be a dry commercial type system so that it cant freeze when I dont run heat. A fiend of mine is a union sprinkler fitter, so he is doing it.

The national average for residential sprinklers is $1.61 foot for new construction. Which of course means nothing for your upgrade system.

Look in the phone book for "Fire Sprinkler" and ask them.
