I have asked about that one twice now, the consensus is it should work "ok" as a backup to something better. I figure its better than nothing so one is under the tree right now :)

I'm definitley considering one, because every night I go over in my mind that I unplugged everything, closed cans, shut off everything, closed all gases, turned down heat...etc...etc. There's no piece of mind!!

I had a sprinkler company come in and do my shop. With the savings on insurance premiums it will pay for itself in 8 years.

They will work just as good as a regular extinguisher as long as you have them serviced regularly (recommend annually). Instead of a pin device, they use a thermocouple to trigger the release of the agent. Also they are rated ABC (Common, grease, electrical) so don't expect them to put out your VW magnesium block :)
