So, for those of you that have installed these types of heaters, how long does it take before the "new heater" smell goes away?

I have run it about an hour now and it works great, but there is a fairly strong smell. I have sealed up the exhaust very well, so I don't think it is that.

Did your guys' heaters produce a smell when first fired up?

First couple hours of use for me. Per the manual its just the oil on the tubes to keep them from rusting prior to installation. Mine been running off the thermostat for a couple weeks and the smell is long gone...

Yeah...took about a day for mine to clear out. That was the first thing SWMBO said..."Is it always going to smell like that?"

Fortunately, the answer was: No.

Oil on the unit is correct. It will be gone in 24 to 48 hours. Congrats! You will love it.
