It is a sad day in my household. Fellow Garage Journalists, the time has come that I must do what is best for my family. Unfortunately, that means selling the firehouse and moving home. The project has been an absolute blast and the memories made will be cherished forever. I count it as a blessing that I was afforded the opportunity to make this my home and save a piece of history. I regret no blood, sweat, tears or cash invested. I pray that someone will love it as much as we have. I hope my future offers another unique opportunity.

Wow, that *****. I hope everything works out for the best. You seem like a pretty smart feller, I'm sure there will be another "adventure" or two down the road. Can you give us a selling price, maybe somebody on GJ is interested?

The realtor photos show what an amazing job you did on that place. Beautiful.

I hope you make a nice profit on that.

Too bad you're having to leave that AWESOME old firehouse.

What's the story . . . why you leaving?? Are you cashing out since complete??

There's quite a few missing Photobucket pictures in that other thread. Can you restore those pics ??

IDEA: How about putting the pics that run in the Real Estate ad, to be your last few posts in that other thread ??? That way they will be preserved on GJ. Thus, post directly to GJ.

The story is kids/family/employment opportunity for my Dr. wife and business ownership for me.
The pics later in the thread are restored. I will try to post the realtor's pics in the future

Oh man, if that was near me you'd be receiving an offer tonight.
Good luck with the sale. I'm sure it'll go quick.

OMG! I'd be all over that in a heartbeat. It also proves to me real estate prices in my city here in Ont. are insane. I need a drink.

Good luck with the sale.

Good luck with the sale and the future and thank you for sharing that with us as it has been a great project. I watched the local Station come up for sale here at Auction with ideas but knew it would be out of reach. It is now a cafe.

O wow, I've driven by that a few times. I didn't realize you were the one that owned the place. Was your house on the news at one point in time or was that the one in NKY? Had I known it was a GJ member I should have knocked on the door. Very cool place, hope the sell and move works out for you and your family.

If you don't mind my asking, where do you plan on going? Staying in the SW Ohio area?

That house has history first as a fire and police station and now your history that involves the rehab and your families life over the years.

As a firefighter myself these older buildings always hold a special place in the personnel that were assigned there. My current station is only 4 1/2years old but memories are always in the older structure.

Like they say, "When life throws lemons at you, make lemonade."

It sounds like you are making an adjustment in your life that improves your prospects. Nothing wrong with that. Hopefully, the Fire Station will go to people who will love it as you do. I am certain a project that is right for you will come along. Can not see you living in something new or ordinary for very long.

MAN AM I EVER LATE FOR THIS PARTY!!! But just went back and tried to catch up on the original build thread (reposted pics start on post 349 I think?) What an awesome place with so many original and unique ideas in floor treatments, lighting, wall decor and even landscaping. Love the old beaded plank the most of all. I have been beating the bushes looking for that stuff around here that is not out of question price wise. Can you share how the, I guess you would call it faux tile, was done on the hardwood floors. I have some old gymnasium flooring I have been considering trying to stain that way. Also just looked at the realtor pictures, I know it is going to be hard to leave that place but hopefully you have a lot of sweat equity in it that will ease the pain. Again, great job, I am envious.!!!!

Boy I should move to the US... that would be $1.5 million in Sydney...

$330K barely buys a small unit [apartment] in the outer suburbs, here, downunder...

cj,

This was by far one of the most interesting GJ builds to read, and I have to say everything you did looks amazing. It's unfortunate you have to sell it, but someone is going to be very lucky!

Please repair the photos in the build thread if you can, I'm sure many of us would love to peruse it again. :)

Good luck on the sale!

While I'm not sure where this thread should actually be, I'm leaving it here for now. It may need to be moved later on.

I'm sad to see you leaving the firehouse after all the hard *** work you have done. I've passed word on of the sale to a member of the Cincinnati Fire Dept and he's also State President of the OAPFF. It'd be great see a fellow firefighter in Cincy to be able to buy the house and good luck with the sale.

Good luck with the sale! As they say, "when one door closes, another one opens!"
Price seems reasonable? Haven't seen any fire halls with the character of yours out here in British Columbia. If one was available, I'm sure the price would be out of reach for most of us.
Lets hope the new owners appreciate it as much as all of us on GJ!

Looks like I get my second shot of 15 minutes (seconds) of fame. A local News channel is doing a piece on it. Not sure when it airs but I will update the post when I find out.

I showed my wife the lights made with the hoses and she was in love with the idea.

Awesome work and a great place, good luck with your sale.
