I have been looking to get in the coming weeks a Victor 0384-2046. I just recently saw this FP OXY 250 (0384-2572). From what I have found in reading about Firepower is that they are made by Victor, but can't find COO. I am guessing they are Victor's less expensive made in China version, versus the Victor unit that is made in the US, otherwise both kits look to be similar or competitive kits.

I have a place when I am in upstate NY that has the Victor for $249 US, very good price for this unit. I can get the FP Oxy 250 for $239 CDN. When I calculate exchange and all, it is about $100 difference.

The FP 250, possibly made in China, I would figure it is made to Victor's spec & requirements, and should be better than no name made in China **** I have seen.

Anyone have any experience or feedback on the Firepower kits?

It probably doesn't help, but I have had a firepower mig welder for about 10 years and it does everything I have ever asked it to and more. It is the best 110V mig I have had the pleasure of using. I have built full race car chassis with it (and wrecked them!).

I know it isn't what you were asking about, but it is at least some experience with the brand.

It does help, it is much better than hearing your FP MIG was bad, and you had nothing but trouble with the product and company. From what I know, Victor's claim to fame was made with their torch kits, if you are very happy with the FP MIG, it bodes well for the FP torch kit.

I have a 10-12 year Fire Power Oxy/Acet Tote kit with torches and it gets the job done. That said, IMO it's not in the league of my old Meco Weldmaster outfit which was very smooth and well balanced, both for gas welding and cutting.

Thanks, good to hear the feedback
