I have been looking for a compressor to do sprinkler blowouts on CL, and although I was finding some OK deals, they were all vertical standups (60/80gal) with no wheels. I have several properties to blowout so portability was key. I decided to just get a new compressor (Sanborn 30gal oil filled). I do plan on using the compressor for small projects around the house as well (tire fill-up, small brad nailers, 3/8” impacts).
Thanks to this forum I have learned a lot. (i.e. adding ball valves and extension pipe to water drain & oil drain). However, I do have a few questions before I start buying quick-connects, hoses, tools, etc…
1.) Break In – I have read others talk about running the A/C for 30mins, then doing an oil change per their instruction manual. I was planning on doing the same, but after reading the manual mine only says to run it 30mins and no mention of an oil change. I assume if the manual says no change then it is not need until 100hrs of use, which in my case will be a while.
2.) Quick Connects – Sounds like everyone here is in love with Milton V style. Not sure if I need these in my case, but I certainly do not wait to fit leaking connects. I’d rather buy quality and be done with it. I was looking at the Milton S-217 V Style Hi-Flow Coupler Kit on amazon. I understand these go on either end of the hoses and tools, but do you also swap out the connect on the actual compressor as well? I assume those are swappable as well?
3.) Hoses – Sounds like either goodyear rubber (no longer sold at HF for cheap?), or Flexzilla. I plan on getting 3/8” x 50’ for my use case. Are the bluebirds getting good reviews still?
4.) Blowgun – Does anyone use/like the “Campbell Hausfeld MP5143 Pistol Grip Blowgun”? I am concerned about it being plastic and breaking with time. Better to go with “Milton Industries S-148 Lever Hook Blo-Gun”?
5.) 3/8” Air Impact Wrench – I read on here people were happy with the Earth Quake from Harbor Freight. Is that one of the few things on the buy list of HF these days?
Lots of questions. Thanks for the help.
