I've had this idea for a while now. I finally got around to running it by Ryan just to make sure everything was OK and we are a go.

2020 has been a pretty bad year. A lot of people out of work, businesses going under, all around not the best. This is a big forum with a lot of good people, let's see if we can do some good and make a positive impact and end 2020 on a good note.

I want you guys to make a donation to the charity/non profit of your choice. Whatever you're passionate about, whatever matters the most to you, make a donation. Red Cross, animal shelter, homeless shelter, food bank, Wounded Warriors, whatever it may be, donate. Whatever you can afford, if all you can spare is $5, that's $5 more dollars than they had before. When you make your donation, make sure GarageJournal is referenced somewhere. Put it as your first name or last name for the donation information. After that I want you to screenshot the donation info and post it in this thread.

And this is where I put my money where my mouth is........:shocking:

I've set aside $1000 to match as many donations as I can. I've decided to put a cap at $50 per donation match. Bare minimum I'll be able to match 20 people. If you donate less than the $50 cap, I'll match it exactly, even down to $1.00. If you donate more than $50, that's hugely generous, but I gotta stick to the $50 cap to spread the wealth so to speak :) After you've posted your donation screenshot in this thread, I'll match it and post my donation screenshot too.

I challenge others to donation match too! The more people that we get in this, the more good we can do! If you can't donate any money, donate your time locally. Find an animal shelter, homeless shelter, food bank, whatever and see if they need an extra pair of hands for a day. Any help, any positivity we can bring to this year would be great!

Come on GarageJournal members, let's do some good! Let's make this a yearly event here!

I want to add this in, do not send me any donation money. The only person's cash I want to be responsible for is my own. And, mods could we get a sticky for this thread? It would be much appreciated.

Current donation tally:

$25 from dmftoy1, matched $25. $975 left to donate!
$25 from Kev442, matched $25. $950 left to donate!

I put Garage Journal as “organization” but it didn’t come through on receipt. Happy Birthday USMC!

Project Peanutbutter was borne of the realization that malnourished children are often lactose intolerant, meaning giving them Similac was capable of killing due to diarrhea.

https://www.projectpeanutbutter.org/ and Kaervak, both doing good in the world!

I didn't see this thread last year, just saw it as "similar thread" suggestion on this year's GJSS thread.

Doesn't look like much action last year? Offer still good? Maybe we can liven up the thread a little.

You're a good person!
