:mad:Well today my grandson and I went to HF to pick up that 44" US General tool box that just about everyone here gave a  So we go to the back look them over one more time and to drool over.Pull the tag that you take up to the cashier went stand in line for about 20mins while a lady was gripping about something. Finally the line moves a little,as standing in line I see one of the upper cabinets being wheeled out the door with buyer having a smile on his face.Lucky for me I got a parking spot right up front by the door so that loading would be made easy.Ok now its my turn, have money in hand with little over to cover the taxes so that not flashing no more than what I have to.Then I hear cashier say "We're out of the blue, but we have yellow"My attitude change to be like the lady who held up the line over some issue. Now I understand why,so ask guy "how does a store like HF run out on their busiest day of the yr" So he said that he could give me a rain check which is only good for 30 days at that price 399.00 or I can go ahead and pay for it now which it will be in 12/21 which is what I settle for. Here's the challenge "Keep track of your receipt"
If HD Husky tool box would have gotten couple positive comments I would have drove over there.

"Keep track of your receipt."

If your phone # is registered then they can pull up the receipt on the computer. Heck, because of the phone number registration I also get the receipts emailed to me.

Easy, scan it into your computer or take a pic with your phone. That or tape it to the inside of your kitchen cabinet

In the case of this toolbox purchase, it really will help to keep track of your receipt because you bought the tool box as a pre-sale. In HF speak, that means that HF will need this presale receipt to convert it in to a normal sales receipt when you pick the toolbox up. That final receipt will be the one that they will base your warranty start date from.

If you are already set up to have them email your receipts, then none of this applies but it will still make the pick up process go smoother if you can hand them the paper receipt instead of scrolling for emails on your phone and trying to scan the barcode off of your screen.

And everyone is correct. Your grandson will LOVE the box! It is worth the wait. Good on ya for a nice gift, Grandpa.

Took me three weeks to locate a red one last year. It was the New Year’s Day sale I went to. Nope. Same issue. Had black and blue, no red. Took three weeks for one to show up at the store.

I just ran to HF to pickup a 130 pc tool set my sister wanted for her new house. In and out in 5 minutes. It helps that I waited until 1pm.

Alright, go with me on this one. Any box style in any of the 5 colors and a 6th for the 30". Now in general they are priced pretty well especially compaired to the competition. Most stores warehouse footprint is smaller than the sales floor. Now where do supposed they store those boxes. God forbid we have to wait for a little bit for the product to arrive. I ordered an orange 44 it was there in a week. The stores call you when its in so you can plan accordingly.

I got a white 5 drawer cart. Called for months, left my number with the manager. Finaly called one friday and they had it. Was the first one the store ever got and the first one out the door with one from that store. Why white? Its going to be a baby changing table.

"how does a store like HF run out on their busiest day of the yr"

I've never been in an HF I would, consider a physically large store and tool chests are not small. :headscrat

Oh, it black Friday as well.

I was surprised they were not out of the $39 air compressors, but we managed to get two.

Hang in there.

If a person joins the inside track club you are able to get the sales a day before. I bought 5 of the Braun LED flexible lights for 18.99 each. No lines on Wednesday 11/27/19

They could have checked the computer and had one held at another store. I’ve done stuff like that before. They call the other store and have them put it in the back.

Go back and get it and hold the receipt.

I really like their blue boxes but really don’t need another tool box.

Most stores are pre sale on tool boxes. Rarely do you go home on that day with your exact box.

It's worth the wait at that price. I have a blue 44" box and I have no complaints.

They need to revamp their primitive website so you can check local inventory and/or place orders online for store pickup.

HD has really done a good job in this area.

Both of those are in the works. They didnt estimate how much work would go into it

You'll be happy you waited three weeks.
I have 4 of the Husky boxes, wished I'd bought the HF's instead.
Happy Holidays.
...and keep track of your receipt!

What did you dislike about the Husky, and like about the HF?

Like OP, this is my first Black Friday with Harbor Freight. Where does the Black Friday sale fit in terms of good deals when compared to after Christmas, Father's Day, and other sales (that I can't think of the names)? In other words, if I miss out on a Black Friday deal today, will that deal come back for Christmas, the same, better, worse, or not at all?

Thanks

Thanks guys, all reasons make sense.Being the person that I am I have always purchase used over the yrs.I can count on one hand that I have purchase an expensive item new like this tool box.I had sold one of my Delta/Rockwell 14" BS so I had the funds to purchase new so I went for it.I watch lot of reviews on Youtube about this box so I was fired up to get it.What a let down when told me I can either drive to another part of town where you need a gun to get in/out or will have to wait till 12/21 I chose 12/21 Thanks guys for all the advice and giving reason why no box.

I.had never bought a tool box from HF until two weeks ago. I thought I was going to bebop into the store and tell them which color I wanted and be quickly out the door. I didn't even call ahead to the first store. Of course, they didn't have blue like I wanted but did have green, orange, and yellow. I left after the very nice associate informed me when the next truck.would arrive. I grew impatient and called another store. I was told they had two blue mechanic's carts in stock. I drove to the store the next day. It turns out one of the boxes listed in stock will always be the box on display. The other.was sold just before got there. I was told by the manager that he doesn't know what color tool boxes will be on the next truck. I would need to call and see what they had after the truck arrived. After calling both stores when their trucks arrived, I found out neither received a blue carts. I called a third store and they said they had three or four in stock. I drove to the third store and got the mechanic's cart I wanted without any trouble. They even had the matching folding side tray in stock which I had a coupon for that ran out the next day. So if you have a particular color you want, be prepared to work a little. I'm very happy with my cart. I was afraid my $169 coupon would expire before I found what I wanted.

This, ^ a option to order online and pickup at your local or closest store would be a huge improvement. Seems like whenever I am in line there is somebody in front of me scrolling thru the ad on there phone to save a buck on a hammer. I am all for saving money but have your **** together when you arrive at the store.

When I bought my 26" the Husky boxes were inferior in just about every way. Thinner metal, lower weight rating, caster quality/attachment and paint.

They need a [free] site-to-store option too - hopefully that will come when they revamp their site.

This is happening. Just slower than we all thought.

Does HF give rain checks?

Does HF sell floor models, especially when someoone like TheLawnRanger has this sort of drama going on?

I did get a rain check on a Blue 44". Good for 30 Days. Didn't say when it would be back in stock.

They actually were sold out of all 44" cabinets.

What's wrong with yellow? :) It is nice and bright -- good for garages, and it's a traditional racing color like fire engine red.

I would prefer the orange myself, but I wouldn't necessarily mind a yellow box.

Yup, I like HD's site, also tells you which aisle an item is located

I put my receipts in .50 can so I don't lose them, and even if the roof caves in or the house floods I'll still have em!
