This is my first Estate tool haul. Went pretty well, atleast I think so. Guy went to a retirement home so his daughter was selling all his tools.

Picked all this for $40, 3 straight edges not pictured

Tell me what you guys think!

The DP is a "King" (Trademark) from King industrial.

Its a fairly common std Asian import DP, all near identical (many ARE identical, regardless of the "flavor of the day" company export/importing them), and about the same quality.

Usually they are perfectly serviceable for most use, but low on the food chain as they often have loose quills and total run-out is iffy at best. Early ones are from Taiwan generally, later ones are often from China.

With only 4 speeds it is more suitable for wood than metal.

Check the motor, if not replaced it may have the COO.

Think of the money you'll save on haircuts! (Second photo, top left.)

lol They're actually Dog clippers! Turns out the clippers and 6 blades are worth about $140+. Gotta love the old/vintage Made in USA clippers/blades!

Now that you've pointed out it being not so good, I'm thinking about selling the drill press. I want a USA drill press to drill metal.

What do you think would be a good price for this drill press? There's one on Ebay for $165 Buy it Now on ebay.

Craftsman floor model drill presses sell for around $150 around here. Start yours at $100 on craigslist and hope you can sell it for what you have in it.

I think So Cal is an easier market, but I also think somewhere between 70-100 is about the top unless you happen to get lucky. Just make sure you show it well, (clean and no rust...)

Ignore Eprey buy it now prices, they are meaningless; What matters is what they actually sell for. (so only pay attention to the closed auction prices and what they really sold for, and take that with a grain of salt, you are not likely to hit that on CL...)

I sold one of those for about $80 a few years back and felt like I got top dollar at the time...
