Hey all, just last month I bought my first house with my wife.
There were two must haves, a garage and a pool.
The house was built in 1967 and it has a (what turns out to be) fairly small garage.
It measures 19.5'' long 23'' wide (but in terms of park-able space there is less width).

I have a 1967 Buick Electra that is 18.6'' long... so needless to say its a tight squeeze.
Now, my logic was that a house built in 1967 should be able to handle a car also built in the same year, but not so much! :badteeth:

pics coming soon

It's been a while but I finally have a picture.
Also note that we had to get rid of the Buick so there is plenty of room now.

Still a bit of junk in there, but the house did come with the pegboard wall so thats a help. We'll add another shelf in there too for some more space.

Congrats! In regard to garage size, it definitely seems they are bigger nowadays. My garage was built in 1942 and is a measly 18'x20' :(

Check out craigslist for deals on cabinets, shelving units...etc I've managed to get a lot of stuff free/cheap for my garage so far. Not as fancy as many others here but ya gotta start somewhere.

Good luck with all your garage projects :)

Thanks guys.
So far the only thing we've done is had our neighbor install these shop lights (huge help, there was a single bulb in there before) and this sweet light up light switch haha (which I found used for $1. Didn't even know if lit up until I put it in)

That's a good sized space, congrats! What are your plans for it?

Well now that I don't have that super long Buick I want to put a work bench under that shelf. I need a spot to do that kind of thing. Then with a bench I can attach my vise

It will certainly be nice and bright in that corner with the window. I have a window in my garage as well, above a bench, and I love the natural light it provides.

The windows are nice, but I really need to put some screen on them so I can open them up without insects or anything - and it would add some sun protection.
Ideally, I would put in some sky lights.

update:
decided to paint the pegboard white.
It was brown and stained, as you can see in the first pic.
painted it white with spray paint - didn't do a great, job, lots of running paint, but its better than it was before!

I think it looks tons better than it did.
