I've been a lurker here for a little bit now so I figured its time to show everyone my (basic) first home and shop.
2.5 years ago, after my girl moved in with me and we got a puppy we realized a 600 sq/ft condo in downtown Toronto wasn't enough space for us. She works from home (self-employed wedding photographer) and I work outside the Toronto core so we decided to move to the Guelph area which would result in myself having a 1 hour commute daily, but it would be worth it to get a home with backyard and garage. Long story short, we sold the condo and went on a 5 month hunt for a house in the Guelph area. We found something that ticked most of our boxes well within out price range so we jumped on it as soon as we could.
Here is the house from the posted for sale listing. Simple bungalow, fenced back yard, lots of parking, and a great garage for a first time home owner...which gave me the opportunity to FINALLY get a fun weekend car that I always wanted.
Fast forward to a week after our move in and we got the first of many snowfalls to come.

After chatting with our new neighbours after moving in, we learned that the previous owners had accidentally burned down the original garage that was built with the house in the 70's. So they rebuild this bigger, better garage to suit the side business/hobby that they were running repairing and restoring snowmobiles. Its big enough that I can have all car doors wide open and still have loads of room to walk around the entire car with no worries.
They also had installed full radiant heating in the cement pad during construction which I was really excited about, since I could spend time in the garage during winter. Unfortunately, shortly after moving in I notice a fluid leak with the radiant heating system, so I called a local radiant heating installer to come out and have a look at it for me. After a quick inspection they determined that the heating control unit mounted on the wall was installed incorrectly, and in fact wasn't even a legal unit in Canada. Its one that is ordered from Mexico off eBay and installed by DIY'ers like the previous owner. So he legally was forced to cap my gas line and disconnect the heating unit. After a few quotes to have a proper unit installed, I was looking at roughly $2700 to have a new unit, and install it. Up until now I still haven't been able to get this done due to lack of funds - new floors, water softener, etc. in the house is more important at this stage.

Finishing up, we decided to get a second pup to keep the first one company. This is her at 5 months old last summer. She likes being in the garage when I'm out there messing around.
