Hello from NH!

This past fall we broke ground on our semi-detached 30x44 garage.

8 Years ago, I talked my wife into buying this house that was newly built in the exact location and style of the 200 year-old farmhouse that had recently burnt in the same spot. It was vacant, not weather-tight and calling it unfinished would be putting it lightly. I promised her that I would "have it all fixed up in no time," and build a garage in 3 years. So, eight years, 2 dogs, 2 kids, a 950sqft farmers porch, 18x26 pole barn and a massive custom play structure for the kids, we still don't have baseboard or window trim in our master bath, but we broke ground on my (our) dream garage (with compromises and concessions).

So I started drawing up the plans and making a wish list. One of the things we had to cut was an "Ell" between the house and the garage, like the old pictures. The addition of a well in the 80's, ledge, and the road changing over the years, didn't leave enough space for a driveway and turn-around in front of the doors. The Garage is only attached by the covered porch, which has turned out better for my relationship with the tax man...

Heres the progress so far:

Now that the roads aren;t posted any more, the concrete floor is getting poured tomorrow AM.

Looking forward to talking you all about heat, benches, tool boxes lighting and doors!

We'll keep you updated on progress!@

Thanks!

Site work, concrete, trusses and roof all hired out. With the exception of the overhead doors, I'll be doing the rest of the work myself.

I'm curious do you have a drive-thru capability with also a door on the backside of the garage? :)

Also I'm curious if you need "snow guards" with the steep pitched metal to keep mini avalanches from screaming down the roof..?

Yes, the middle bay is a pull through.

We will DEFINITELY be installing snow angels or bars. We only had the metal on for one honest storm, but even the snow came off, it packed solid about 30" deep, up to 12' away from the building! 3e60beb50cb95db1ad0edbc52928d2b8.jpg
