Greetings to everyone! You may not believe me, but I have been lurking on this site for 18 years - I just checked! Over the years, I have learned much from all of you great members. I am finally ready to build my shop. Life takes it's crazy twists and turns, but finally the time has come!

Currently getting quotes from NC and regional companies for a steel building. Shooting for a 30' x 50' x 14' with a right side lean-to 12' wide and 50' long. I have been in professional racing for over 30 years (Damn, I'm old). Moved out to 1.5 acres in the Weddington/Wesley Chapel area 5 years ago with the vision to have a shop for auto restoration and maintenance. Also interested in tying in the lean-to patio to the backyard pool area with a walk up wet bar/office for a 3 or 4 season patio.

Have a friend with a JD skid steer who is going to help clear the land and prep for final grading. Any recommendations for grading and concrete work and/or steel building manufacturer experiences in the area welcome!

Happy to be here!

Welcome. Only advise I have on your pole barn is to have it as big as you have space and money for. :)

I used Pre-Built Structures from Mt. Airy, NC for my 30x50. I was pleased with it until Helene came through last week. Now I'm "tickled pink" as it survived the (at times) 90 mph wind and rain without a hiccup! Upgrade to commercial standard to get 140 mph wind resistance. If you talk to Victor, tell him Lou Manglass sent you.

Thank you, Lou. I'll add that to my list. Happy to hear a success story from Helene. Too much pain and suffering going on right now in Western NC. I'll be happy to drop your name over there at Pre-Built.

Welcome! Sounds like an awesome space...

What sort of racing?
I moved out here from Colorado (where I crew-chiefed a late model team) to work at Joe Gibbs Racing. Ended up carrying tires for Smoke and worked in the engine department from '97 to' 08. Also worked for Brembo, Ilmor, Windshear Rolling Road Wind Tunnel. Currently I work for General Motors running all our different series drivers on simulators.
