Hey there guys. My name is Joe, and this is my first post.
Just before my dad passed away about two years ago, he gave me a plastic bag with a bunch of machinist tools inside. This was in addition to a pretty killer Gerstner chest with all kinds of Starrett micrometers, rulers, dividers, etc. Anyway, I am still trying to clean up the garage from the 18" of ocean water that was in there during Hurricane Sandy, and since I had the camera, I figured I might as well try to figure out what some of these things are.
In this first photo, you can see a snapshot of what is in there. A lot of it is from a tap and die set, and I have about fifty to seventy taps.
Here is a close up of something that I do not have any clue what it could be. Anyone have any insight on this?
This says Starrett on it, but I don't know what it is.
This was in the bag as well, but I am not sure if it is part of a tool, or a piece of something else.
And this is the last tool. It looks like it has a collett on one end, and it has a graduated dial counting up from zero in the middle.
Any input is greatly appreciated. I did find about eight or nine Disston handsaws in a giant tool chest that has been in my garage for years, but I never really explored. There are some great treasures for sure still waiting to be found in there. Thankfully this tool chest was above the high water level, so only the legs were in the water.
