Hello everyone!
This is my first thread, although I've gathered tons of information from browsing through the site. Currently I am at the very beginning stages of the poll building. Our original property did not have enough room for a garage and all my projects where being worked out of my 12x16 Shed. So, we purchased the empty lots next to us after six months of back and forth. The county allowed me to do a consolidation and approved my building. My official permit should be in the mail to me this week. The builders have given me a start date of September 20th. I have had lots of work to do in the mean time. The lot was heavily wooded and needed to be cleared and was also about 30" below grade.
Originally I wanted a 30x40 but the budget just did not allow. So I'm going with a 24x32. Here are some of my start pics. Sorry a lot of them are from my crappy cell phone.

Lot as it was four weeks ago.

You have been busy getting ready. Can't tell much from the pics but it appears that you have a very nice setting that you are in...we don't get a lot of trees and open area typically here in Ca. Keep up the good work and keep the pictures coming showing the progression of your build.

What, is that fence post Excalibur? That's a hell of a set. Good luck, keep us up on the progress.

LOL, that post was holding up a 8' gate so it needed to be very strong. The tractor pulled it right out though. I'll try to get some clearer pictures.

Here in MD the inspector bungholes have to look in the hole as the first inspection so that held the guys working up a little.

Wednesday
I had to go into work at 5AM, but I got a call at 6:30 from the wife that there was a large truck in the driveway unloading lumber.
Pregnant wife+no sleep+loud truck early in the morning+barking a-hole dogs= Nasty phone call to me.
But this is what I came home to.

How tall are the walls? Are you siding it to match the house? That looks like a size I will build in the future. How finished will it be when the pro's are done? Cost?

Looking good and as a father of three I hope you don't get another call from your wife in the am!!

The walls spec’s where supposed to be 10' I measured 11' last night. But after the 6" floor is in it should be closer to 10.
The builder is going to match the metal colors as close to the house as possible, and I’m going to repaint the shed this weekend to also make it as close as possible. The building will have double bubble insulation, two 9x7 steel carriage style doors with arched windows, the 6" floor with apron, steel side entry door. And a floor in the center portion of the trusses for light storage, rain gutters and conduit to the house for power. My electrician brother will be doing all the power.
The builders cost was 14K even.
The framing will be finished today and the steel and insulation tomorrow. Floor get poured Monday and doors will go on as soon as floor is dry.

Yeah I have plans, but for now they are all just in my head. I will be framing the inside between the polls and doing R19 insulation inside of the double bubble. Then drywall. Before that I will be running lots of power to every wall and pull down in the center of the garage. Also a few in wall airlines. The compressor is going to stay living in the shed to cut done on floor usage and noise. The plan is to use dual T8 fixtures, three rows of four long ways. The building will also have water run to it for a utility sink. I figure that should hold me off for a while. My brother will be doing the electric and my father will do the plumbing. The rest of it will be just me. Once I get to that point I'll see how to best layout the space. I've never had a garage before so its all new to me.

Metal finish tomorrow, floor Monday, doors Wednesday.
Decided to do the wall insulation myself, but the roof is finished.

Awesome! I want to do the exact same build hopefully very soon. Am I reading correct that your total cost for the building and floor was $14k? That's not bad at all if thats the case, who did you use?

Yes it was 14K even. The company is located in Dover DE. They just did a very nice 40x100 for a friend of mine. I'll have to post pics. It has a shipping room, warehouse, conference room, two offices and a full bathroom with shower. The quality of materials and work was better than anyone else I've seen. I don't know if they would go into NJ, but it might be worth a shot to get a quote.
Here is the site.

Picture updates.
The tin was done the day after the last update I have just been busy working and coulden't get to take some pictures. The floor was done the following Friday. Its so smooth my sneakers squeak and the dogs nails sound like they are going across a chalkboard. I would have been finished last week except my doors have been on back order for three weeks!
They are being installed tomorrow and final inspection should be Thursday. Then the fun begins!

Update.
Still working on insulation. Cash is short so have to do it in little batches.
I moved a few things out of my shed but didn't want to move much since it will get in the way of finishing the garage.
