First time garage build 32x26

I bought my first house about a year ago but it was missing one thing.....a garage. Started planning, got the permits, and got to work. Who knew building a garage was so much work. Its a 32x26 with an 18x8 door. Here's the progress.

I didnt think it was going to fit in the backyard.

Let it dry, made some relief cuts, and sealed it up.

Well the plans are to make it just a good all around shop. Do some moonlighting and some projects. Probably park vehicles in it at night. Im just excited its actually happening. Im pretty behind on pictures so ill upload them as i get time.

Started the electrical stuff, it went pretty smooth. Hopefully get the inspector out soon to get the stamp of approval. The next big question on my mind is what type of exterior lights to use. I think i like the old porcelain gooseneck style but i dont like the price, they're pretty expensive. Here's acouple of pictures of the latest.

Alright I know its been awhile but i couldn't find any lights for the longest time. Finally I found some, and they were pretty cheap too. Anyways here they are.

I had to clean the lights up a little but i think they turned out great. Just got some pipe and fittings and rewired them.

Big question . . . why is main electrical service in FIRST before there's any siding installed? How you going to get siding in behind that later?

After having cheap masonite on my old house rot out, I now only want brick wall behind exterior mounted electrical service (ie something permanent that I'll never have to replace). On that old house, had to leave subpar siding pieces behind the meter box and just patch in new siding. I would not want to do that again if I were to rebuild from scratch . . .my 2 cents.

Also curious if the top cinder block was solid or hollow? Why weren't anchor bolts cemented into that top row of cinder blocks?

Love the hanging exterior lights (but again why installed BEFORE siding)?

I dont plan on putting siding behind the meter box instead I am going to trim around it and the mast.

The top cinder block is solid and i used threaded anchor type studs.

And the reason I installed the lights before siding was I made the tubing fixture from 1/2 inch pipe and used a 1/2 inch flange to mount it. I was afraid it was too heavy to mount in a standard way so i decided to actually mount them to the wall and make the electrical connections inside. Probably a bad idea that i will regret if i ever have to replace them but its the route i went. And as for siding around them, i plan to cover the flange with siding so only the pipe is sticking out.

Got the final inspection on the electrical and all is well. Utility company came out and pulled the lines and set the meter. Im super happy.

This is how i used to work. Extension cord, one light.

Now I have power! and its great.

my phone camera makes the lights look glowing and cloudy, i'm not sure why.
