I would like to preface this post by apologizing for asking such basic questions. I have been doing some research but there is simply too much for me to sift through.

Background- I'm a car guy through and through, Audi to be specific. I guess I'm a "white collar" worker going to work in suit, but I have zero issue trading that tie for my garage clothes on weekends. On Mondays I usually have grease on my hands still. I do everything on my own, not just regular maintenance. This means I am looking for all types of fluid resistance.

The wife and I are purchasing our first home, closing March 14th. And she is pregnant! This means a couple weeks off this summer, time I can use to get some projects done. The walls need to be taped and finished, which I can handle. But the garage floors are a different story. The house has a four stall, which is handy considering I have 3 cars to myself, the wife has one.

Considering my hobby, I see a flooring system as not only an aesthetic benefit, but a cleanliness one as well. As mentioned above, there will be all types of fluids being spilled on the floor, or at least in my project half of the garage as the other half will be relegated to DD use. The house is fairly new being built in 2014 meaning the concrete is in fairly good shape and of course already fully cured.

If money were no problem, I would pay a contractor to come in and handle it with epoxy. But as always, money is of course a object. I'd like to get the flooring done for less than $1000 total. Labor is free, at least. I have no problem cleaning and applying product, and I am totally DIY everything.

I'd like to do epoxy considering its longevity, but it seems like a little costlier and since I have never applied it before, a little more risky. On the other hand, maybe a urethane sealer could handle what I am looking for? But perhaps wouldn't stand up to the abuse? We live in MN, so salt water will be present all winter long, especially since I plan on heating the garage to above freezing.

Hi, take a look at our SPGX, many happy clients here at the Journal, and at less than 50 cents per sq ft, very well priced and super easy to install.
