Buying our first house in a few weeks, and subsequently my first garage! I have always lived in apartments/condos so I have never had my own garage, always worked out of my friend's shops.

I know it isnt huge, but we are looking approx. a 19x14 garage, with a new slab and not "finished" (bare wall studs). I want to epoxy the floor, and possibly finish the walls, but that will come later.

Pic of the outside of the garage:

and a couple quick/easy renderings, I dont have a Caterham, but the dimensions of the car are scaled correctly to what I have. The box rendered is a Snappy, but I will probably be going with a CMAN or HF Special, of close to the same dimensions. 60 Gallon Air compressor, Grinder, Drill press and Shelving unit pictured, but I will also have TONS of lighting, and hopefully some cabinets eventually.

This website is addictive as hell, I almost wish I would've never found it! It has given me some great ideas though, and I will be keeping this thread updated with my progress! If anyone has any inspirational pictures of 1/1.5 car garages feel free to post them, I am constantly looking for ideas! :3gears:

Looks like you have put some thought in your layout. Should make a nice shop. Do you have a yellow roadster to park in it? :)

I was wondering though, Where should say... a hose reel go? I am torn between towards the front of the garage, or against the "back" wall (where the drillpress/grinder is). I would like to have access to the air in the driveway for quick work, but I dont know...

ae86 refers to the chassis code of the Corolla of the same vintage. Mine is a Celica (ra64), but the suspension bits underneath are virtually the same, just has a different engine/transmission and is ever so slightly larger.

Thanks! I am really excited to start a project at my own house, and work on it in my own time!

You could keep the compressor in the back and run a line inside/outside of the wall to the front. I agree that unless you have a 50'+ hose it would be hard to get a hose from the back to the driveway without having to unwind it all.
