I have been looking long enough time to post my project. I am working on my 18x36 post framed, woodsided with a steel roof barn. Our house used to be a horse farm this barn was the blacksmith shop. I will use it for a garage/workshop. It has a full loft @ 80yrs old would like to redo concrete floor but cost alot. So i will epoxy the floor when i get done and put in a furnace. I have moved the lights three times think they are good now. I am using pink panther insulation and putting OSB up. I have seven upper kitchen cabnets from a couple friends. I also have two shop style base drawer units i will use as a workbench, i will make a top. I will also add another bench and a new to the market surprize bench/table (will see later on). For now trying to get walls done and painted before christmas. I have already added an alarm on the house and the barns,we done that after moving last spring. Best 45 dollars a month ever spent...i will post more as i progress. Thanks for all the good ideas i have seen already. I might not end up with as many workbenches as Jack has, haha but i will have a couple.

Re: Hotrod barn

More pics of garage. Thanks for the welcome

I was going to ask what that short wall was for. I thought maybe it was the start of a bench or bar. Huge difference with it out of there. A bag of Sakrete will fill in those holes. Looking good so far.

And WELCOME to Garage Journal

I checked into spray foam didn't want to spend that much, been putting chalk on all windows eight total.pretty bright during the day, they do take a lot of wall space. It staying warmer with every pc of insulation and OSB that I put up,its 30 out and its 45 inside without any heat since Sunday @2pm.I did lower the loft doors Sunday that helped a lot.I ripped that old workbench out last week it took 2 hrs and about five saws all blades it must be 300 lbs..the wife thought she could help me move it until we tried ,had to cut it half still couldn't get out of the barn.waiting on help still.will start cleaning this week and move the Torino out into other barn so I can have more rm. To finish.also it still has the blacksmith forge but the chimney has been capped off, think I will take it out this spring.will do more pics later.

I found some time to work on my barn , finally. I still have 12' left to finish the walls out. I have to clean that area up before i can finish. Got a free counter top from my brother this wk. so i mounted it. I used two base cabinets that i had , i also made a mobil bench with materials that i had.
Got most of it painted with extra paint my wife had left over from the house. Just trying to put stuff away and clean up some as i go. I couldnt do anymore projects around here until i got better organized.
Here are some pics.
Check out what i had in my tool bag !
All the stuff on counter top( on left side of bench)
Thats where all my chuck keys were !

I think I will put some 1/2"foam around them with OSB on top.then trim around window,so I can later put in better windows without to much trouble.
Still trying with some more pics.

Nice little place you have there. I can tell as an old place it has some character.

Did I spy a masonry block chimney ? Left over from it's life as a blacksmith shop ?

I got it from my dad before he passed,351 auto air. He bought it from original owner a lady that just retired and wanted to sell it. She had it painted back in 1978,she had all paperwork on it.I am going to put disc brakes on it and new tires so it will be better to drive. Tires on it must be 30 plus yrs old.with drum brakes and those tires its a little scary to drive.I will start on it when I get barn done.

Suggestions, yes, first use the "quote"button and not copy/paste. :lol_hitti

If you're not going to use the forge, either sell it to somebody that will or learn how to use it, it is a dying art. I believe there's a couple of guys here that have a forge, one that I know of for sure.

If you do take it out, consider putting a wood burner in to heat your place in the winter. If you can cut your own wood, it's cheap heat.
