I went to Sears today and I picked up a 24mm and a 27 mm combo wrench and the two pack of adjustable wrenches. Thankfully They must be old stock as they weren't lobster claw or made in the PRC. however It was depressing. Every single socket set was made in China. Sad. I needed a chrome metric 1/2 driv set. I am going to just get a kobalt set seeing how it's quality is above that of newer crapsman. What a sad time we live in.

Moral of the story: Folks! Use the warranty on open stock before it's too late! (for some it already is)

I hate the sears threads as much as any. I was glad to find the few USA tools but now I know, if I need a tool to last snap on and if I need it today harbor freight, lowes or hell even autozone/oreilly's

I am going to chime in here and say that the Kobalt line seems overpriced for china tools. I know they might be easy to warranty for some that have a lowes close buy, but I just don't see the draw for kobalt tools. I look at HF quality and it looks about the same quality as kobalt for a lot less $'s. Not that I am in any way a fan of HF.

The new Kobalt sockets fit horribly also.

The Cman adjustable are one of the few things still produced in the USA, by Western Forge. Most of the open stock sockets 'round here are still USA, but probably scraping the bottom of the barrel (all of the sets are Chinese.) Only within the last month or two have the open stock specialty/uncommon wrenches started turning up as Chinese. I just completed a set of USA deep offsets, and within a month I saw the pegs cleared then the Chinese replacements started showing up.

Thats cause nobody buys adjustable's, they are still clearing out stock from the 80's :dunno:

To be honest, I have never owned a craftsman automotive tool. I have a old ride on CM mower for the acerage which has been wonderful but here in Canada, Canadian Tire has a strangle hold on mid range/store bought tools & Princess Auto is our Harbour freight.
