First time on the Snap-On truck

I saw the local snap on driver in his truck and jotted down the phone number. I gave him a ring and asked a good time to meet up with him to purchase a few items.

We arranged a time and met up. What a neat truck. I could not believe how much stuff gets packed on/in those things! There was not a square inch on the truck not covered with a tool of some sort!

I walked off with a 5/8" double swivel spark plug socket, a 3/8" locking extension, and a green ratcheting screwdriver everyone hypes up so much. They are all fine pieces. He also ordered me some of the newer style sticky drawer liners for my older KR1001 box and has a note that when he receives the long handled flex head f80's with a green hard handle to let me know.

Seemed like a great guy and a pleasure to deal with. I'll definitely be buying from him again. He also gave me a snap-on mini slotted screwdriver by alexander with a pocket clip. Those tweaker screwdrivers always come in handy.

That is a cool story. If I were Warren Buffett, I'd just have Snap-On send me 2 fully stocked tool trucks.

Yes! And I'd build a huge factory in the USA to produce the items that Snap-On currently sources from overseas. And I'd wholesale this stuff out to Mac, Matco, and Cornwell for their trucks also.

It is pretty cool that he drives a 8 year old Town Car. If they had his money, most would probably have a chauffered Rolls-Royce. And he still lives in the house that he bought in the 1950's for $25,000. He eats at Dairy Queen/Brazier a lot too (Berkshire Hathaway owns Dairy Queen).

Needs? The list is probably not all that long. Makes your life easier? The list just got very long. Handy for the rear plugs on pretty much any transversely mounted V6/8 motor.

GMC syclones and Typhoons, easiest way to get to the RH plug behind down pipe and the LH plug around steering I have about 4 different versions of the same socket

I did get a kind of giddy tingly feeling. Such cool stuff! And yes, I bought the double universal for the rear bank plugs on a RX330 among other transverse engines.

I didn't get the 40 a week speech but he knew I was just a regular DIY guy, not a pro.

I'm in the other camp at this point in my life. After getting in the big white truck every week for approx 18 years, I'm done giving him $50 a week for the rest of my life.

Funny thing was I had my old Matco guy in MY store a few months ago. Once he figured out who I was ( I look very different now) he turned an said to his daughter, "this guy payed for your first year at school!!!" Keith

Be Careful!!! Them tool trucks are like drug dealers. They lure you in with all them fancy, shiny tools and free pocket screwdrivers and the next thing you know, YOUR ADDICTED. Every week your back on the truck, like bein back on the smack. Every week you hand the man more of your hard earned dollars. Pretty soon your out of space in the toolbox and you find yourself eyeballin that gorgeous roll away he has on the truck. Hey, Buddy he says, "the box is only $10,000, but for you I'm gonna discount it and throw in the steel top... and a pocket screwdriver". Next thing you know your hangin out at freeway offramps with a sign, "HELP... I have to pay my tool truck".

I can see how someone can get themselves forever in debt to it, but I just needed a few things. I'll visit with him occasionally but certainly not every week. I figure I'd much rather support him when I need something than buy online. I'm not opposed to paying for a quality tool within reason.
