My father recently passed away and I have inherited about 60 years of tools. I came across a rusty old locked up Reed 103-N. I've never used a vise other than to smash things when I was a kid, but I feel that I need to restore this one to honor my father. I've almost have to completely torn down and I'm about ready to clean it. Any suggestions on an abrasive blasting? I thought I read not to use sand. Any suggestions or information on this vise would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I wouldn't blast it. Evaporust or Electrolysis to take care of any corrosion and a good cleaning with APC and a brass brush before that to get rid of the grime.

How to finish it after that is up to you.
