SOLD This is the first version of the Simpson model 260 multimeter, & was manufactured circa 1936 - 1946. It belonged to my father, who purchased it long before I was even born. He continued to use it up until 1979, when I bought him a Simpson 260-6 for Xmas.

Above the word, "OHMS", printed above the top scale on the meter, is the patent number, 2,051,399, which has a patent date of August 18, 1936. The original labeling which was silk screened on, has long since worn off, & my father replaced it using decal lettering. The only original labeling left is the, ZERO OHMS, AC DC marking by the output knob, & the AC-5000V-DC marking for the positive test lead. I was only able to test the AC & DC voltage portion of the meter as there are no batteries in it & are required to test resistance. When compared with my Digital VOM, the readings were the same. The meter requires a C size battery & two 3 volt batteries (Burgess 422 or Eveready 750) which are soldered into place. However, most 3 Volt batteries were replaced using two "AA" size batteries soldered in series on each side of the meter. More information about this first version meter, including battery information, can be found here: http://www.simpson260.com/260-1/simpson_260-1.htm

The meter itself is the only thing being sold, & does not include test leads, batteries, or the leather strap. I will also email the winner a pdf file copy of the users manual & schematic, if wanted. The case is not cracked or chipped in any way, although it does have surface scratches. The glass on the meter is clear & scratch free, and the face beneath the glass clean. Overall it's in very good condition, especially considering its age.

I'm asking $20 for the meter plus $12 for shipping. That's $32 OBO, shipped Priority Mail, well packed, with insurance & delivery confirmation. Package has a 5 lb shipping weight. If interested, please post your interest to the forum first, followed with a PM.
