After reading all the posts I'm glad you found the problem. I used to buy the purple guns for primer guns. I remember running into one that was caked with silicone and I had to soak it before I used it. I was going to go with improper cleaning of the metal. I always wipe bare untreated metal with prep cleaner or laquer thinner. Glad to see you solved the problem!!
