As I slowly replace my stolen home toolkit, I was wondering about Fiskars hammers. I owned Estwing and been happy with them but am curious how the Fiskars stack up?
Just stick with Estwing. Made in US hammers at a damn good price. It's crazy to see imported DeWalt and Milwaukee hammers that cost twice as much now
Hard to imagine life without an Estwing 16oz. finish hammer and an Estwing 28oz. rip claw waffle face framer. I even have a 20oz. Estwing rip claw smooth face with the stacked leather handle for when I’m feeling nostalgic.
That's funny, the E20S (20oz rip claw smooth face leather handle) is my go-to hammer for just about everything except framing, for which I use my E3-28SM (28oz rip claw milled face rubber handle).
I have learned not to use a leather handle Estwing to nail in new windows, as it has a metal baseplate under the leather washers. dont ask me how I know.
I have 5 of their hammers, 2 of their prybars. All good stuff. If you're in the market for pry bars, give them a look. I have a 3' gooseneck demo bar, made of 1" round stock, made in USA. when I bought it, it was cheaper from HD online than the 3' Stanley hecho in Mexico.
Estwing hammers are sold thru out the workd by high end tool retailers, as well as contractors suppliers.
From what I understand, Estwings are one of the standard hammers used by professional carpenters in the UK, and possibly Australia, **** Fine Tools in Germany sells them, and German hammer manufacturer Picard, just started making some hammers using the same forged one piece design, presumably do to demand or competition.
I like Fiskars, but the hammers are a somewhat new design, and I think I’ve seen a few complaints on Amazon about breakage. If you just want to purchase one hammer for your kit, you’d be better off with the Estwing.

I almost thought of buying one of these the other day. Feel nice in your hand. I have a 20oz smooth face for my trim box in my Packout. Then a 20oz smooth face curve claw in my framers pouch. That I use for pulling nails or siding. I run craftsman framing hammers for years but that’s about to come to an end with the demise of Sears. When framing full time it was always nice to go get a new hammer when something happened.
Of the two listed I vote Eswing.
